The story

The AEVN Époque began with the pocket watch.

As I fell further into horology, I found myself looking backward almost as much as forward, into the watches that existed before the wristwatch became the object we know today.

Somewhere along the way, I became fascinated with pocket watches. There is something wonderfully deliberate about them. Large mechanical movements. Roman numerals. Long, elegant hands. Dials designed in an era when checking the time still felt like an intentional act.

I discovered an entire world of old pocket watches being restored and converted into wristwatches. I loved the idea, but many of them were simply enormous: 46mm, 48mm, even 50mm or more.

So I started wondering what that watch might look like if it had never been a pocket watch at all. Not a century-old movement adapted to the wrist. A new watch, purpose-built around the same idea. That became the Époque.

I’ve always had a weakness for period pieces. As someone who would usually rather disappear into a book than turn on a television, I’m fascinated by the objects, architecture and small details that make another era feel tangible. The Roman numeral dial gave me exactly that feeling.

And then there is the movement. It is large, hand-wound, visible through the caseback, and unusually audible. This is not a quiet watch. In a silent room, you can hear it steadily ticking away. I expected that to bother me. Instead, I found it strangely calming.

There is something about that relentless little mechanism simply doing its job, tick after tick, steadily and without hesitation, that seems to quiet a brain that rarely wants to sit still. Almost like a mechanical metronome on the wrist.

The Époque feels familiar without actually being old.

Texture with character.

Ostrich leg leather · Brown, Black, Navy or Burgundy

Glossy ostrich leg leather brings a distinctive scaled texture to Époque’s pocket-watch-inspired design. Its natural pattern gives each strap its own character.

The unpadded profile keeps the strap visually restrained, letting the leather’s surface and the watch’s sculptural details stand out.

Choose Brown, Black, Navy or Burgundy, each finished with dark, color-matched stitching. Quick-release spring bars make changing the strap straightforward.
